Domus

Domus is a Precast Prefab System that consists of one module that can be configured in various ways to create different sized homes and communities that can easily adapt to different site requirements and owner preferences.

The system consists of a main shell module measuring (12’ x 8.5’ x 13,5’) 12’ x 8’-6” with a 12’-6” high barrel vault ceiling / roof and short connectors that allow for circulation between the different programmatic sections. Within the main modular shell, a system of modular interior fit outs provide all required programmatic spaces, which can be arranged in a variety of ways, making the system even more flexible.

The main modules are cast / precast concrete shells with full height glass storefront systems on either end. All utilities are routed through the floor

In order to improve the least efficient aspects of prefabricated construction – the transportation of the modules – we are currently developing a custom designed formwork, which could be rented on a project basis and which would greatly reduce construction and transportation costs.

We are currently looking at sites on which to build our first prototype and are talking to concrete manufacturers for the production of the mold and the individual units.
